Running reports
Monthly summaries, category breakdowns, VAT and CSV exports.
Open Reports to see totals by month, category and payment method for expenses, receipts, VAT reclaim and mileage.
Available views
- Monthly summary — income (if tracked), expenses, VAT reclaim, mileage claim.
- Category breakdown — spend per category over any date range.
- VAT return preview — Box 4 (VAT reclaimed) and Box 7 (net purchases) figures for the current VAT period.
- Mileage log — every journey in the selected period with HMRC totals.
Exports
Tap Export CSV at the top of any report to download a spreadsheet-friendly file. The default layout is generic and imports cleanly into Excel, Google Sheets, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent and KashFlow.
Your accountant can also pull data directly from their Practice dashboard in a format matched to their bookkeeping software — see their side of the workflow under Working with your accountant.
Date ranges
- Tap the range chip to pick a preset (This month, Last month, This quarter, Tax year to date, Last tax year) or a custom range.
- The UK tax year runs 6 April – 5 April; LedgeIt uses those boundaries, not the calendar year.
